Treaty Support

The Treaty Support Unit of the NRA has been established in light of the Government of Laos’ signature and ratification of the Convention on Cluster Munitions, and other International Treaties. These developments will result in much additional work for Laos as it works towards meeting its treaty compliance obligations. Accordingly, extra capacity in the NRA has been created to meet this challenge.

The focus areas of the Unit will initially be secretarial support for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the governmental area responsible for international treaty commitments, and to assist in integrating the treaty requirements into domestic legislation and strategy.

This Unit is still being assembled, and is due to commence operations in early 2010.
Please return to NRA website for a full Unit description mid-year.
